Header BOWL 70

Winter time is fire time

When the days grow shorter and the air becomes clearer, many are drawn to the fire. The play of the flames has its very own magic in winter – especially with a fire bowl from höfats. However, frost, moisture and dirt can leave traces on the material over time – especially on powder-coated or enamelled fire bowls.

Our models such as BOWL, MOON and CUBE accompany you all year round – and with the right care, they remain in top shape even during the cold season.

Step by step – how to make your fire bowl winterproof

CUBE Feuerkorb

1. Clean thoroughly

Before covering or storing your fire bowl, you should remove ash residues, soot and grease marks. This protects the surface and prevents corrosion.

For stainless-steel models such as BOWL, MOON or CUBE, warm water is sufficient – avoid using aggressive cleaning agents.

2. Dry and protect

Make sure all parts of your fire bowl are completely dry before covering or storing it.

Many of our models have perfectly fitted covers – water-repellent and weather-resistant. Wooden boards should not be stored under the cover during winter, as trapped moisture can cause mould. This way, your fire bowl remains optimally protected and ready to use the moment you want to light your next fire.

3. The right place for winter

From autumn onwards, we recommend storing your fire bowl in a well-protected, dry location, as consistently high humidity can otherwise lead to corrosion.

4. Using your fire bowl in winter

Who says fire is only beautiful in summer? A crackling fire in winter, snowflakes dancing in the light of the flames, and a warming mulled wine – pure cosiness.

Just make sure to let the fire bowl cool down completely after use and cover it dry afterwards to prevent rust from forming.

Patina that becomes even more beautiful in winter – fire bowls made of Corten steel

What makes Corten steel so special?
Corten steel is a weather-resistant steel alloy that intentionally develops a protective rust patina. When exposed to the elements, the steel gradually forms a uniform rust layer with natural colour variations. This patina protects against corrosion, gives the fire bowl its characteristic look and makes it particularly durable and weather-resistant.

A fire bowl made of Corten steel requires less attention in winter – it is only important to remove the ash regularly so the protective rust layer can form evenly and no damp ash residues damage the surface.

Accessories for a worry-free winter

For our fire bowls, we offer custom-fit covers and lids that sit perfectly and reliably protect your fire from snow, dirt and moisture.

Fire bowls made of Corten steel – such as TRIPLE, ELLIPSE, CRATE and BEER BOX – are winterproof thanks to their material and do not require a cover.

For a full year of fire enjoyment

With a little care and the right maintenance, your fire bowl will stay winterproof, rust-free and ready to use as soon as the first rays of spring sunshine appear.

This way, you can enjoy true höfats fire design all year round – thoughtful, durable and full of magic.
